EVN and Phongsubthavy Group (Laos) signs Power Purchase Agreement

The Signing Ceremony of Power Purchase Agreement from Nam Sum 3 Hydropower project between Vietnam Electricity and Phongsubthavy Group took place on 24 June 2019, in Vientiane (Lao PDR). The Signing Ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung and Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.

EVN's electricity purchase price is determined in compliance with the Government's regulations on power import prices from Laos.

Nam Sum 3 Hydropower Plant is invested by Phongsubthavy Group in Xam Tai district, Houaphan province, Laos. The Plant has designed with a total capacity of 156MW, including 3 units. The design power output at the terminal is 626 million kWh.

The Project was commenced in the first quarter of 2019 and is expected to be put into commercial operation from 2022. The Plant is connected to Vietnam's power system at 220kV Nong Cong substation (Thanh Hoa) following the connection plan approved by Prime Minister.

Currently, Phongsubthavy Group has attained Assignment License and the approved Environmental Impact Assessment Report of the Project.
