The Party has been held in Hanoi on January 10th 2022, following the success of the 44th session of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee on Bilateral Cooperation.

The meeting's success is expected to give new momentum to building up bilateral cooperation in a more practical and effective manner, contributing significantly to the strengthening of Vietnam and Laos' longstanding friendship, special solidarity, and all-around cooperation.

At the party, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Lao counterpart Phankham Viphavanh met with 60 Vietnamese and 20 Lao businesses. Vietnamese businesses expressed interest in agriculture, fintech, and infrastructure projects in Laos. While Lao enterprises reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen their solid partnership with Vietnamese counterparts in many sectors, particularly energy, finance, and logistics.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Lao counterpart Phankham Viphavanh have witnessed the signing and handing over of nine co-operation documents between the governments, ministries, agencies, and enterprises of the two countries. Of which, Phongsubthavy Group and EVN have signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) to buy and sell electricity from the Nam Sun 3A Hydropower Plant, which has a total capacity of 45MW. Earlier in 2021, EVN and Phongsubthavy Group had signed PPAs for Nam Yeuang, Nam Mo 2, Nam Tai, Nam Sak, Nam Sao, and Nam Chao Hydro-electric Power Plants, as well as MOUs for Se Cong 5, Nam Ngone 1, and Nam Ngone 2 hydroelectric power plants.

The signing activity is another step forward in the amicable relationship between the two firms in particular and the two countries in general, particularly in terms of energy cooperation.
